PREFACE
This book The Digital Evangelist honours the extraordinary, faith-
filled life of 23-year-young Jerin Thobias Vakayil.
This volume is more than a biography; it is a tribute and a spiritual
invitation. It chronicles Jerin’s journey—a life rooted in deep Catholic
faith, Gospel-centered service, and creative digital evangelisation.
By sharing his story, the book aims to inspire a new generation to
embrace Christ’s call in both tradition and the new frontiers of the
digital age.
Jerin’s story is woven from the rhythms of everyday holiness and
extraordinary compassion. From childhood, he was shaped by a
devout family, everyday acts of prayer, and the living witness of
saints. His early years were marked by simple kindness—distributing
alms, guiding strangers, and praying for the suffering. As he grew,
his gifts as a student, artist, and digital discipleship emerged within
him, which he always used for the greater good and never for
personal glory.
During the world’s darkest hours—especially through the COVID-19
pandemic—Jerin’s creativity and faith met the needs of the moment.
He initiated online Holy Masses, spiritual content, and digital
outreach projects that lifted hearts and unified communities when
physical gatherings were impossible. Through these works, Jerin
embodied a new missionary spirit, using technology as a vehicle for
hope, faith, and connection.
Jerin’s impact is most evident in the testimonies of those he
touched: youth, elders, clergy, and peers—each remembering him
for his humility, attentiveness, and gentle leadership by example.
His legacy is one of hidden greatness, quiet service, and a deep
commitment to serving Christ in others, especially the marginalized
and lonely.
In remembering Jerin Thobias Vakayil, we do not only honour a
remarkable son of the Church—we set our sights on the future. We
hope this book can ignite the same light that shone in Jerin: a life
lived for Christ, for the Church, and for others.
May Jerin’s spark a renewed zeal for service, community, and digital
evangelization among our youth.
With renewed hope and earnest prayers,
Fr. Jomon Joseph Kolenchery,
Chancellor, Diocese of Mandya – Karnataka
